Pen needles screw onto the threaded tip of a pen injector and stay there only for a single dose; they are not designed to be reused. The 4 mm and 5 mm short-needle options sit right under the skin and suit most adults; longer 6 mm and 8 mm needles are sometimes recommended for larger injection sites or muscle delivery. If your pen brand specifies a particular thread, check the pen manufacturer's IFU before ordering.
