Use a blunt-fill needle when drawing solution from a rubber-stoppered vial — the blunt tip resists coring of the septum (small rubber fragments that contaminate the solution and can clog finer needles), and the wider 18G bore lets viscous solutions flow without stalling. Switch to a thin-gauge sterile syringe for the actual injection. The luer-lock 3 mL syringe is the safer choice when injecting an oil-based or larger-volume solution where a press-fit needle could pop off under pressure — the screw-on luer-lock fitting holds even under heavy plunger force. Do not reuse either component; both are designed for a single draw or a single injection.
